Jean Stapelton of the 1971 classic television series All in the Family has died.
Stapelton, 90, died of natural causes TMZ reports. The award winning actress is survived by her two children, John and Pamela. Her husband passed in 1983. The iconic actress starred alongside Carrol O'Conner and Sally Struthers playing Edith Bunker.
The heartwarming actress also starred in the All in the Family spinoff, Archie Bunker's Place, appearing as a guest star The Hollywood Reporter notes.
Writer/producer Norman Lear is said to have been overwhelmed by the success of Stapelton's role as Edith, as she was earlier noted as a naïve voice of reason, turned into one of the classics most notable and lovable characters.
Stapelton is also noted for role alongside Meg Ryan in You've Got Mail, playing the lovable Birdie Conrad. She also starred alongside John Travolta in Michael, took on guest appearances in Caroline in the City, Everybody Loves Raymond and My Three Sons.
