It seems as though Anna Kendrick is sticking to mixing her music career with her acting career.
According to Celebrity Gossip, Kendrick will be starring as Cinderella in the film adaptation of Into the Woods. Originally a Broadway musical, the play has received ten Tony Award nominations in 1988 and the Best Revival of a Musical in 2002. Kendrick has history of singing on Broadway since she was a young girl, but it wasn't until her role in 2012's Pitch Perfect where Kendrick started to gain a following for her voice.
The film will be directed by Rob Marshall, known for Pirates of the Caribbbean: On Stranger Tides as well as the film adaptation of Chicago. The adaptation of the musical received great reviews and Marshall was nominated for Academy Award for Best Director for the film.
The movie will be a fantasy musical that will follow childhood stories such as Little Red Riding Hood, Cinderella and Rapunzel. A childless baker and his wife venture into the woods to lift a family curse by confronting the witch that bespelled his family. Hollywood Reporter states that the movie has a growing list of familiar names such as Meryl Streep, Emily Blunt, Tracy Ulman and Jake Gyllenhaal. It has been rumored that Les Misérables young actor Daniel Huttlestone will also join the cast.
