Paula Deen has found a supporter in American Gothic author Anne Rice who is questioning if society is acting like a "lynch mob." Rice has taken to her Facebook to defend the southern chef following the backlash she’s received from admitting to her use of the ‘n-word.’

“What's happening with Paula Dean? Is it fair? I never heard of her until today, and wow, this looks like a crucifixion, she wrote. “I may be wrong but aren't we becoming something of a lynch mob culture?”
Rice asked her fans for their opinions on the issue, and followed with some “thoughts” of her own.

"...This woman is just what you said. She's an old southern lady, and she never made these unwise remarks of hers to a black person. We have no evidence at all that she has ever personally insulted or injured any black employee or friend,” Rice said, replying to a comment.

Deen was fired from her position on the Food Network after admitting to her use of the ‘n-word’ in a deposition. She also admitted her desire to hire all African Americans to pose as slaves for her brother’s 2007 wedding. Despite her reps desperate attempts to smooth over the public, Deen's career continued to falter.

Earlier this week QVC stated that they would “review” their “relationship” with the southern chef, noting, “QVC does not tolerate discriminatory behavior.”
