Bette Midler made a dying fan’s wish came true when she accepted her request to sing “Wind Beneath My Wings.”
Midler called Anna Greenberg, who is battling cancer, after meeting her at a movie screening, and told her that she admired her courage.
“You're such a wonderful soul and I am so glad that I got the chance to meet you,” Midler told Greenberg, MSN reports. “You have enhanced my life probably as much as you say I have enhanced yours."
Greenberg then asked Midler to sing the song for her, and she said "Of course, angel.”
According to Moviefone, Midler and Greenberg first met last year when the actress invited the 28-year-old to a screening of her film Parental Guidance.
Greenberg found out she had rhabdomyosarcoma, rare form of cancer, after running a half marathon in 2011 and noticing one of her legs was bigger than the other.
The phone call was recorded by Greenberg’s brother, which you can watch below. Greenberg lost her battle with cancer on May 28, three days after the phone call.
