On Twitter yesterday, June 13th, a trending topic sent the internet world into a frenzy: Bindi Irwin has died.

Thankfully the trending topic has been proven false. E! states that the topic was started due to people looking up Bindi on search engines due to her new movie titled Return From Nim Island combined with the fact that her last name is popularly associated with the death of her father, Steve Irwin. Apparently the hoax was started due to “technical difficulties,” a hoax that landed her rumored death at the Number 4 spot on MSN’s top trending list.

Proving the rumors false, the 14 year-old posted on her Twitter yesterday a link to a Hong Kong interview which featured a flashback to her father’s crocodile wrestling days.

Bindi has been following her father’s legacy. Recently, in January of this year, she even got into a “spat” with Hillary Clinton about conservation. According to Daily Mail, the 14 year-old sent Clinton a 1,000 word essay on the matter. The essay was returned to Bindi but not until after editors re-worded and ripped the essay apart. Bindi, furious with the outcome, refused to let the essay be printed.
