After dining at a Japanese restaurant in Berlin with his family, Brad Pitt tipped the waiter $700 after ordering $1,846 worth of food.

Pitt was in Germany on Tuesday to promote his thriller film World War Z. After the premiere, he took Jolie and their six children to a Japanese restaurant in Berlin to celebrate Jolie’s 38th birthday, reports Entertainmentwise.

The party of eight ordered everything on the menu – specialty ramen, dumplings, toro sushi, etc. – which totaled to $1,846.

Pitt went above and beyond the usual American tip of 15% of the bill and instead gave the waiter $700.

The 24-year-old described his reaction to the generous gesture, saying, “My knees were shaking.”

The waiter decided to split the money with 15 of his colleagues.

It seems that Pitt truly did spoil Jolie with fine foods to celebrate her birthday.

Before the expensive family dinner in Germany, Pitt, Jolie, and six of their friends attended the Il Vino wine restaurant in Paris, reported E! News.

A source described the night out, saying, “They had a very nice evening and they were very happy... The energy was romantic…They indulged in both red and white wines. They had some cake for dessert.”

The Jolie-Pitt family has since returned to the States, though Pitt is continuing his promotional tour for World War Z, having recently made a surprise appearance at a theater in Atlanta, Georgia.
