Brad Pitt and partner Angelina Jolie caused quite a stir when they appeared together at the premiere of Pitt’s new movie World War Z where the actor revealed that when it comes to talking to his six children, he and Jolie are completely open.
The public appearance marked Jolie’s first red carpet walk since news broke of her preventative double mastectomy. The procedure, which took place in February, was essential to the prevention of breast and ovarian cancer for the actress, who lost her mother to cancer in 2007.
When speaking on how he and Jolie broached the delicate subject of Jolie’s procedure to their six children, Pitt divulged that he and his partner adhere to a “policy” of “no secrets."
People Magazine reports that Pitt backed up his statement by saying the do approach certain subjects with a necessary amount of delicacy, especially considering the young ages of their children.
"I mean, there's an age of understanding, so you've got to present it in a way that is age appropriate,” Pitt explained. “But we know our children very well."
"We want everything to be on the table and any questions they have, for them to ask," Pitt said of their kids. He and Jolie’s oldest child, Maddox, is 11. The couple’s youngest children, biological twins Knox and Vivienne, are 4.
Jolie told The BBC that post-surgery she feels “great.”
"I've been very happy just to see the discussion about women's health expanded and that means the world to me,” Jolie said at the premiere of Pitt’s film in London.
