Charlie Sheen needed a new co-star for his FX sitcom Anger Management and on Thursday he got one - former Beverly Hills, 90210 star Brian Austin Green.
Green previously appeared on the show as Charlie’s ex-wife Jen’s (Shawnee Smith) boyfriend Sean during season one. Lionsgate promoted him to series regular on Thursday night, reports E! News. Sean will be Charlie’s new nemesis on the show.
The news comes after reports that Sheen and Selma Blair were feuding between filming and refused to work if she showed up. He had reportedly asked producers to fire her and days later, he got his wish. That leaves the show without a female lead.
According to THR, Lionsgate is searching for a “gorgeous, sexy” actress to replace Blair’s Kate character. The role would probably start as a multi-episode guest arc and then if it works, the actress could get promoted to series regular.
Anger Management airs on FX, which ordered 90 episodes to be produced after season one drew strong ratings for the cable network. FX’s broadcast sister station Fox has been airing episodes this summer to try to get the show a wider audience. THR reports that they still have 60 more episodes to make.
Green is married to Megan Fox and he recently appeared on Happy Endings and Wedding Band.
