Dark Desire (Touched By You #1) is the first book to Emily Jane Trent’s ‘Touched By You series.’

Emily Jane Trent is a ‘romantic at heart’ and is a contemporary romance author. Her stories have an erotic and steamy love plot with relatable characters. In regards to what makes her erotic books different, Trent said on her website, EmilyJaneTrent.com, “My writing style is meant to entertain. Readers can expect stories that keep them turning the pages. No matter the length of the story, it’s intended as pleasure reading and will be an enjoyable experience. The sex scenes are part of the overall story and the characters expression of passion as the romance evolves.”

Dark Desire (Touched By You #1) is about a young girl from Oakland, California and has met this irresistible billionaire Tanner Clarke. The story begins with Natalie ditching her senior prom to go to a She Wants Revenge concert with her girlfriends. This is where she meets Tanner and there is an immediate attraction and connection. Within the first few moments of being together Tanner and Natalie get hot and heavy without even knowing each other's name. A night that started off as spontaneous ended with Natalie in tears.

Years later when Natalie is 22, she moves to New York to fulfill her passion for fashion. As the years have passed by she still thinks of the mystery man, Tanner.

Natalie is quiet and inexperienced and is looking forward to living on her own in New York. She bumps into Tanner at a store and a sales representative asks Natalie to model a dress for him. Natalie thinks Tanner doesn’t remember her but he instantly pieces it together. Their relationship starts to blossom and Natalie learns more about Tanner and his mysterious ways.

Natalie is a reserved, inexperienced virginal character and Tanner is a dominating, possessive, and aggressive man who has stalker like qualities. Sound familiar? The book is similar to Fifty Shades Of Grey, with the story line, characters, and erotic scenes. Trent gives vivid and explicit details in the sexual scenes.

I liked how Trent started the book with Natalie at a concert, because it was unique and captured my attention. I think the plot could have been developed more and the character dynamics should have had more in depth. Since it is the first book, perhaps the plot and story will give more details throughout the series. In the beginning the sexual encounter between Tanner and Natalie seemed rushed and out of place. The book struggles with the issue of Tanner telling Natalie “He is no good for her.” The story abruptly ends and we are left wondering what is going to happen in their relationship.

If you are a fan of erotic romance novels like Fifty Shades Of Grey, Dark Desire (Touched By You #1) is a book for you.
