Demi Lovato has come to terms with the passing of her father Patrick Lovato, the singer plans to start a scholarship in memory of her father.

Lovato lost her father, Patrick Lovato last week and according to her Twitter, she has come to peace with the loss. She wrote Saturday, "Today I put my Daddy to rest... hardest thing I've ever done." She wrote, "But I know great things will come of this. There's an overwhelming sense of peace knowing my dad is no longer battling his demons anymore and that makes me so happy."

Lovato’s father and mother divorced in 1994 and the 20-year-old singer has said in the past that they had a strained relationship. Lovato released a song entitled "For the Love of a Daughter." In the song Lovato hints that her father struggled with alcohol abuse according to NYdailynews.

Lovato plans to start a scholarship program to help others who struggle with mental illness. "I believe that everything happens for a reason and I want some good to come out of my father's passing," she wrote on her twitter. "So I am launching the Lovato Treatment Scholarship Program to help pay for treatment expenses at Cast Recovery for someone who needs help."
