Demi Lovato’s estranged father, Patrick Lovato, passed away after battling cancer and the X Factor judge has stayed mum about it until now.
Back in 2009, Lovato, 20, said in an interview that she had not spoken to him in two years.
"The last time I talked to him was two years ago. When somebody lets you down after you've been the only one there for them, and so many times, you don't know what else to do,” she said at the time,” Us Weekly reports.
But she did take to Twitter to thank her fans for showing her support during this difficult time.
“I feel so humbled to have had so much support from my fans, friends, family and complete strangers.. God bless you all, thank you so much ❤.”

This past weekend, Lovato skipped out on X Factor auditions as she mourned her biological father’s death.
On Saturday, her older sister Dallas tweeted“Rest in peace daddy I love you..”
