Tragedy has rocked Demi Lovato and family, the former Disney starlet’s biological father has died.
According to Us Weekly, news of Patrick Lovato’s death became public after Demi’s older sister Dallas tweeted about his passing.
“Rest in peace daddy I love you..,” she tweeted Saturday. Her mother, Dianna De La Garza, also tweeted about the passing thanking her followers for their love and prayers.
It is unclear what took the life of Demi’s father, whom she’s had a tumultuous relationship with throughout her career. New York Daily News reports that Patrick, 53, battled cancer for some time.
Demi has not spoken to her father since 2007, telling the Daily News, “The last time I talked to him was two years ago. You try to have faith in somebody, even when you're the last person that believes in him. But when somebody lets you down after you've been the only one there for them, and so many times, you don't know what else to do."
Demi missed today’s filming of X Factor, but has yet to comment on his passing.
