Rapper/entrepreneur Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs’ latest project is Revolt TV, a new music network that is set to launch later this year. While he had struck a deal with Comcast already, today Diddy confirmed that Time Warner Cable has also agreed to carry the network.
The network was announced last year and Comcast and TWC were already rumored to be in talks to pick up the network. It will feature all music videos and targets an African-American audience. Comcast did reach a deal in April, The Huffington Post reports. The company had made a commitment to the FCC to bring in more minority-themed networks.
In an interview with The New York Post today, Diddy confirmed the deal with TWC. “It is rare in this time to be able to get carriage and to get a company as prestigious as Time Warner to believe in you and to commit to you,” he said.
“This is a landmark distribution deal that demonstrates Time Warner Cable’s commitment to bringing a platform for music artists and fans to their subscribers,” Diddy said in an official statement. “It positions Revolt to come out of the gate strong, and we look forward to igniting the passion of initial audiences across the U.S.”
According to The Huffington Post, when the network was first announced, Diddy promised that “Revolt TV is bringing that revolution that television needs.”
The rapper used his Twitter account today to hype the announcement.
