Legal advocate Erin Brockovich-Ellis was arrested at Lake Mead in Nevada Friday for boating while intoxicated.
According to Las Vegas Review Journal, the 52-year-old’s arrest was confirmed by Edwin Lyngar, a spokesman for the Nevada Department of Wildlife. Police were called after Brockovich was spotted struggling to dock her boat shortly after 10p.m. in the Boulder City marina.
Game warden Casen Haslem saw that Brockovich was struggling and threw her a rope in the hopes of assisting her. It was then that Haslem noticed that Brockovich was intoxicated, slurring her speech. “She was obviously struggling to put the boat in the slip, and if you’ve had any experience, it’s a simple enough operation,” Lyngar explained.
Brockovich proved to be well over the.08 legal limit upon performing a field sobriety test. She was booked in the Clark
County jail and released after posting $1,000 bail.
Brockovich’s name was made famous after actress Julia Roberts portrayed her in a film by the same name, People notes. The film retold the story of how she was able to construct a winning case against Pacific Gas & Electric, a company accused of poisoning the water of a small town in California.
