British comedian Russell Brand has lost one show on FX, but will still stay at the network with a live-action pilot in the works.
According to The Wrap, FX Networks CEO John Landgraf spoke with reporters on Thursday, confirming that he doesn’t expect Brand X to continue. “I don't think we’re going to bring Brand X back,” he said, adding that the network is still developing a live-action project with him.
Brand X was a show with Brand performing in front of an audience. The second season aired live and only 26 episodes aired in total.
Deadline reports that the new pilot will be similar to Curb Your Enthusiasm and based on Brand’s life. The project is still without a writer.
In other FX-related news, Danny McBride’s animated series Chozen is moving over to FXX, the new network that focuses on comedies. The Chozen pilot was ordered for FX back in March, but it got picked up as a series today for FXX, reports The Hollywood Reporter. It’s the first new show developed just for FXX.
Also, during the meeting with reporters, Chuck Saftler, the new President of Program Strategy and COO, said that Charlie Sheen’s Anger Management might undergo some changes to stop the sagging ratings. “There will be some changes to the show,” he said.
