The Boy Meets World spin-off, Girl Meets World has been officially picked up by the Disney channel. The show also has original cast members Ben Savage and Danielle Fishel returning as Cory Matthews and Topanga Lawrence.

The show will center on their daughter, Rowan Blanchard, who is in 7th grade, and her friend Maya, played by Sabrina Carpenter. Production is scheduled to start this summer.

Boy Meets World and its story of adolescent self-discovery resonated with an entire generation of tweens. In the same way audiences fell in love with Cory Matthews and Topanga Lawrence, we look forward to introducing our viewers to their daughter Riley Matthews in Girl Meets World and building a memorable connection with a whole new generation of fans,” said Adam Bonnett, Executive Vice President, Original Programming, Disney Channels Worldwide, in a statement, Access Hollywood reports.

Production will be in Los Angeles but the show is set in New York City. In the pilot, William Daniels will return as the beloved Mr. Feeny.

"I am grateful to everyone at Disney Channel for the opportunity to reach my favorite audience, which has always been kids," executive producer Michael Jacobs said, THR notes. "Girl Meets World> is a new show for a new generation that will be rooted in the same kind of honest, comedic storytelling about coming of age and the importance of family and friendship that made Boy Meets World so popular."
