HBO announced this afternoon that the upcoming fourth season of the baseball comedy Eastbound and Down will be its last.

The network made the announcement on Twitter, including a poster that referred to season four as “the final season.” The season premiere has been scheduled for Sunday, Sept. 29 at 10:30 p.m.

According to Entertainment Weekly, the fourth season will include eight episodes. The show stars Danny McBride (Tropic Thunder) as Kenny (F**kin’) Powers, a former baseball player. McBride and executive producers Jody Hill, Will Ferrell, Chris Henchy and Adam McKay had previously assumed that season three would be the end of the show, but HBO asked them for one more last year.

It’s set to start filming in North Carolina, where the show will be set. Kenny is living in the state with his family, years after the season three finale.

While Eastbound and Down is ending, HBO has plenty of new comedies coming to replace it. As The Hollywood Reporter notes, Hello Ladies from Stephen Merchant (The Office U.K.) is set to premiere on on the same night as Eastbound and Down. There are also new comedies from Mike Judge, Big Love team Mark V. Olsen and Will Scheffer and Jonathan Groff in the pipeline.

HBO is also the home of Girls and Veep, which have both been renewed. Christopher Guests’ Family Tree is in its first season.
