Joel Madden, lead singer of punk-rock band Good Charlotte, was kicked out of his hotel room near Sydney, Australia on June 9th.
According to Adelaide Now, police were alerted of the drugs by a cleaner. According to reports only 5g of marijuana was found which is too small amount for charges to be pressed against Madden. In New South Whales anyone found with anything less than 15g is “issued with a caution.”
Madden had been living in the hotel’s VIP penthouse for about two months while he starred on his recurring role as a judge on The Voice, Australia. The Voice isn’t the only reason Madden is in Australia, though. His band, Good Charlotte, has had more success in Australia than in America, prompting Madden to move to Australia.
Madden made a statement via his Twitter that he appreciated the way New South Whales police handled the situation and apologized for any unnecessary drama the situation may have caused. He also admitted in his statement that there was marijuana that was found in his hotel room.
