Showtime is reportedly developing a comedy about music managers that will be produced by John Legend with his real-life manager, Troy Carter.

According to Deadline, the untitled half-hour, single-camera comedy will be based on Legend’s own experiences with managers. Austin Winsberg, a Gossip Girl vet, is writing the pilot.

The Wrap reports that Universal Cable Productions is producing the project. Winsberg and Legend, Mike Jackson and Ty Stiklorius are executive producing under their Get Lifted banner.

This is the newest project under Legend’s TV development deal with Universal Cable, which he signed last summer.

Legend previously performed for a Showtime special and sang at the network’s pre-Emmy party.

According to the singer’s IMDb profile, he’s also signed on to produce Famehore with CBS TV Studios. He most recently wrote the song “Who Did That To You?” for Django Unchained.

The Huffington Post notes that he did release the new single “Made To Love” earlier this week. The track will be on his new album, Love In the Future, which is out next week.
