Con Air actor John Malkovich came to the rescue Thursday of an elderly man who was seen lying, bleeding, after a scary fall.

According to Us Weekly, reports from CBC News reveal that Malkovich was in Toronto where he is staring in The Giacomo Variations at the Elgin Theater.

The victim, 77-year-old Jim Walpole, explains that he and his wife Marilyn were leaving a restaurant when he tripped and fell. His wife explains, "The way he was spurting I thought it was the carotid [artery] or the jugular [vein].”

Marilyn was shouting for help when Malkovich appeared and began applying pressure using a scarf while the owner of the restaurant rushed out to help as well.

"I asked, 'What's your name?' He said, 'John.' And I didn't ask the last name 'cause I didn't figure I'd remember it anyhow," Jim explained.

A doorman called 911, an ambulance arrived shortly thereafter and brought Jim to a local hospital where he received 10 stitches.

The restaurant owner, Ben Quinn, explained after the ordeal, "Malkovich turned and thanked me. I thanked him. We couldn't shake hands, I was covered in blood. He was just off, didn't want any attention. He's a gentleman and a compassionate person."

Marilyn explained that she has now vowed to see as many of Malkovich's movies as she possibly can.
