Taylor Swift famously wrote a song about John Mayer called “Dear John,” and the singer could possibly be responding with a song of his own.

Mayer released a song called “Paper Doll” today, and some of the lyrics seem like direct responses to Swift’s lyrics. For example, when the “22” singer sings "and regret how I ignored when they said, 'Run as fast as you can,’” Mayer seems to respond in his song by singing "You're like 22 girls in one. And none of them know what they're running from.”

Spin reports Swift also sang "You paint me a blue sky and go back and turn it to rain,” in “Dear John,” which he seems to respond with "Someone's gonna paint you another sky."

Mayer has responded to “Dear John” in a Rolling Stone interview, calling it “humilitating” and “cheap songwriting.”

He also said of the song “It's abusing your talent to rub your hands together and go, 'Wait till he gets a load of this!' That's bullshit.”
