Last night’s episode of The Daily Show with Jon Stewart was the last episode with Stewart until September. The host of the news satire is going off to the Middle East to direct his first movie and correspondent John Oliver will be covering the show while he’s gone.

At the end of the episode, Stewart gave his audience a run-down of the project, titled Rosewater. As we reported in March when the news broke, the film is based on Then They Came For Me: A Family’s Story Of Love, Captivity And Survival, a memoir by Maziar Bahari. The BBC reporter had gone to Tehran to cover the 2009 elections, but was jailed for 118 days. He had done an interview with the Daily Show’s Jason Jones while in Tehran. The sketch was actually used against him, since they believed Jones was a spy.

While Stewart heads off to make the film, Oliver will host. He’s been with the show since 2006 and will start his eight-week run as host on Monday. His first guest is Seth Rogen, followed by Armando Iannucci, Mavis Staples and Fareed Zakaria.
