The silver screen has missed Joseph Gordon-Levitt.
The long-haired alien from 3rd Rock From the Sun has long been replaced by a dapper leading man who has starred in blockbusters like Inception, The Dark Knight Rises and Lincoln. Now the adorkable star will be returning to TVs this fall as host of a new half-hour variety show debuting on the millennial network Pivot.
hitRECord on TV!, a product of Gordon-Levitt’s open collaboration company hitRECord will spotlight short films, animation, live performances and other creative works handpicked by the star himself. Gordon-Levitt will oversee collaborations from the hitRECord website, choose the works to be featured on each themed episode and compensate artists for their contributions. “This is not a joke, this is not a marketing gimmick, this is an invitation,” he said in an introductory YouTube video back in March. “Ladies and gentlemen, we are making a TV show, like, actually on television!”
"hitRECord is a collaborative production company so we're going to make this TV show together,” Gordon-Levitt said. “Anybody can come contribute to our collaborations or start your own. I'll be on there every day making stuff, directing the community and putting our work together into episodes of this show and like with any hitRECord production, if we use your stuff, we pay you for it. I'm so excited to get to work with you and I think we're going to make a really good show.”
hitRECord on TV! will premiere on January 18 2014.
