After coming under criticism from fans for dubbing their baby girl North West, Kim Kardashian and Kanye West’s odd directional baby name is explained.
A source close to the new parents tells TMZ that Kardashian and West chose to name their daughter North because, “What's North of North? Nothing."
The name, seen as a metaphor for always looking up, or being the most high, is said by the source to symbolize their highest point as a couple. The source also dished that Kardashian refers to the baby as she and West’s “North Star.”
“North is the highest power,” the source said, according to E! News . "And, when it comes to the stars, the sun rises in the East and sets in the West."
Insiders say that the famous duo have adjusted quickly to parenting and are “splitting duties” well. West has proven to be a “hands on” father in his daughter’s life thus far, even “changing diapers.”
Kardashian is also said to be doing well, a family insider says.
"Kim always feared having a baby,” the source says. “She thought it would be so hard, but it's all coming so naturally to her. She's loving motherhood, and all her fears have gone away."
