In a rather odd interview with The New York Times, Kanye West discussed his influence on society, how he planned his verbal attack on President George W. Bush during Hurricane Katrina and how he doesn’t regret his infamous Taylor Swift interruption at the 2009 MTV Video Awards.

"I am so credible and so influential and so relevant that I will change things,” West gushed in the interview. West’s interview with The Times comes on the heels of the release of his upcoming album,Yeezus.

West, who drew controversy for interrupting Swift when she won the award for Video of the Year, beating out Beyonce, explains that he doesn’t regret his now infamous interruption saying, “It’s only led me to complete awesomeness at all times. It’s only led me to awesome truth and awesomeness. Beauty, truth, awesomeness. That’s all it is.”

Additionally, West explains that he “planned” on saying that Bush “doesn’t like black people” during his Hurricane Katrina Telethon alongside actor Mike Meyers explaining that the moment is “just a piece of me being the opinionated individual that I am.”
