In a new interview with W magazine, Kanye West affectionately talks about his girlfriend Kim Kardashian and also has a reported awkward encounter with her mom, Kris Jenner, at his Paris apartment.
In the interview, West again compares himself to some of the world’s greats such as Marlon Brando, Tiger Woods, the Beatles and even the Soup Nazi. But it’s his comments about Kardashian that are getting the most attention.
West told W about the new mom’s widely reported fashion makeover, “Nobody can tell my girl what to do. She just needed to be given some platforms of information to work from.”
He added of the press covering the makeover every step of the way, “one beautiful thing is that as she discovers it, the world discovers it.”
“For her to take that risk in front of the world, it just shows you how much she loves me,” he went on to say. “And how much she actually loves the opportunity to learn. You got, like, a million companies saying, ‘This is impacting your brand! This is impacting your fans! And blah blah blah.’ But she still sees this light of beauty.”
Us Weekly notes the magazine’s journalist Christopher Bagley talked about being at the Yeezus rapper’s Paris apartment for the interview, and Rob Kardashian was there with his girlfriend Naza Jafarian. Kim had just left to head back to Los Angeles and momager Kris Jenner stopped by.
“This is amazing!” she said about the apartment, which she’s seeing for the first time. West then plays her the track “Awesome,” which is about her daughter and she praises him “great job.”
But West didn’t seem happen with that reaction, mocking "Great job? Great job, Baccarat, for making a glass that can hold liquid! Great job, belt loops, for keeping my pants up!"
Jenner didn’t seem phased by it, telling him when she left "I love you. You know where to find us, at the [hotel] George V. Call us tomorrow, if you want."
