Katy Perry has remained quiet about her heartbreaking divorce from comedian/actor Russell Brand. In a new interview with Vogue, which she dons the cover, the “Wide Awake” singer reveals how Brand announced that he wanted a split and her longstanding love for John Mayer.
Perry, who refers to her famous ex-husband as a “very smart man, a magical man,” admits her interview that she “was in love with him when I married him.” Perry shockingly reveals that she hasn’t spoken to Brand since their divorce and how he revealed his intent to split.
“Let's just say I haven't heard from him since he texted me saying he was divorcing me December 31, 2011,” she admits. "I have to claim my own responsibility in things. I do admit that I was on the road."
"He didn't like the atmosphere of me being the boss on tour,” she confesses. “So that was really hurtful, and it was very controlling, which was upsetting. I felt a lot of responsibility for it ending, but then I found out the real truth, which I can't necessarily disclose because I keep it locked in my safe for a rainy day. I let go and I was like: This isn't because of me; this is beyond me. So, I have moved on from that."
Despite her heartache, not all love is lost on the brunette beauty. The 28-year-old singer has been in an on-again, off-again with one of Hollywood’s hottest bachelors, John Mayer. At the time of the interview, Perry revealed that she still is “madly in love” with the sultry singer. According to E! News, Perry and Mayer are currently an item.
