Katy Perry is Vogue's July cover girl and she's opening up more than ever before on the demise of her marriage to Russell Brand. Apparently it was Brand who chose to end the marriage, and in a less than sensitive manner.

According to The Hollywood Gossip, The Wide Awake singer gets real in Vogue's not yet released issue: "He’s a very smart man, and I was in love with him when I married him." She went on to add, “Let’s just say I haven’t heard from him since he texted me saying he was divorcing me December 31, 2011.” Wow.

Perry and the comedian/actor met at the MTV Video Music Awards in 2008. They dated until October 2010 when they married in a lavish Indian ceremony. Although the Brit was becoming more popular in the states, Perry's career was at it's height during the so-called newly wed phase. The 28-year-old admits that being on the road did contribute to problems in the marriage, but she opened up about the pairs more complex issues like equality in the relationship.

And while she doesn't say so explicitly, it appears that Brand may or may not have done the unforgivable. According to Yahoo, Perry told the mag, “I felt a lot of responsibility for it ending, but then I found out the real truth, which I can’t necessarily disclose because I keep it locked in my safe for a rainy day," Perry shared.

Perry also opened up more than ever before about her now ended relationship with John Mayer. “I was madly in love with him. I still am madly in love with him," she said, adding, "All I can say about that relationship is that he’s got a beautiful mind. Beautiful mind, tortured soul. I do have to figure out why I am attracted to these broken birds.”
