Mathew Knowles is suing UK tabloid The Sun for an article they posted in March that insinuates a rift between he and daughter Beyonce, and reporting that he has never met his granddaughter Blue Ivy Carter.
The article quotes Beyonce’s former manager as saying “I’ve never revealed this much in an interview before. Normally I hate to talk about anything personal, but it would be a lie if I did not say it has been difficult.
“It was hard for me to let her go — it was hard for both of us to let each other go,” he’s also quoted as saying. “And let’s be clear on that. She didn’t let me go, we both let each other go. That’s a big difference.”
Knowles has taken legal action against the tabloid and has issued a statement to E! News, saying publication “needs to be held responsible for its lies in a court of law.” He’s suing for defamation and breach of contract.
He said “My daughters and my family mean the world to me. The barrage of repeated falsehoods spawned by the British Sun's defamatory article has been exhausting and personally damaging to me.”
