Megan Hilty has signed on to return to NBC, even after the network the Broadway drama Smash. The singer-actress will co-star in Sean Saves The World, featuring former Will & Grace star Sean Hayes.

Hayes’ show will premiere in the fall as part of the network’s Thursday comedy line-up. It will air at 9 p.m., serving as the lead-in to The Michael J. Fox Show.

The series has Hayes as a father whose teen daughter is suddenly moving in and is also dealing with an unstable boss. According to Deadline, Hilty has been cast as Liz, Hayes’ friend and a therapist. THe role was played by Lindsay Sloane in the pilot, but she left the show in May.

The rest of the cast includes Samantha Isler, who plays Hayes’ daughter, and Reno 911!’s Thomas Lennon, who plays his boss.

Hilty and Hayes, who also did episodes of Smash, both took to Twitter to confirm the news and express their excitement about working with one another. Hayes wrote, "I couldn't be more excited to do LIVE theatre every week with @meganhilty on my new TV sitcom @SeanSavesWorld this Fall on @nbc."

Hilty played Ivy on Smash, which was cancelled after a poorly-rated second season. She also appeared on Broadway in Wicked.
