Netflix has launched Max, a recommendations robot that will help guide you in the right directions and find what you want to watch. It is currently only available on the Netflix Playstation 3 app.

Netflix announced the new addition on its blog Friday, joking that it is “rumored to be the child of Siri and HAL 9000.” Max aims to help you find the right show or movie to watch in under 120 seconds, cutting down the minutes you’ll spend trying to find something yourself.

According to Techcrunch, Max will first ask you about your mood and your favorite genres. It will then spit out a recommendation for you. There’s also a “ratings game,” which asks you to rate shows and movies on the usual five-star rating scale Netflix uses.

Netflix said that if Max is a success, it will expand to the iPad app within the next six months to a year, notes TechCrunch. However, they say that the PS3 users who have tested Max enjoy it.

Max is available on all PS3 in the U.S. now and it will begin on other devices in the next few weeks.

Meanwhile, you can watch the following video on how Max works:

Hopefully, the next bot Netflix introduces isn't compared to 2001: A Space Odyssey's HAL 9000. Last we checked, that computer didn't do so well with humans.
