An arrest warrant for Patriots star tight end Aaron Hernandez has been issued on obstruction of justice charges. Hernandez has been at the center of a police murder investigation and was questioned by police on Tuesday.

Boston’s CBS affiliate WBZ-TV cited a law enforcement course who said that an arrest warrant was issued early Friday in connection with the murder of a 27-year-old man. Massachusetts State Police are expected to make the arrest, but WBZ reports that it isn’t known when Hernandez will be arrested.

ABC News also confirmed that the warrant was issued.

The case began on Monday, when a jogger discovered the body of Odin Lloyd of Dorchester in a field near Hernandez’s home in North Attleborough. Lloyd, a semi-professional football player, was linked to Hernandez because he was driving an SUV rented with Hernandez’s name. While Hernandez is not currently the murder suspect, he hasn’t been ruled out.

On Thursday, ABC News sources said that during the search of Hernandez’s home, his security system was found intentionally destroyed. His cell phone was also given to police “in pieces.”

Meanwhile the Boston Herald is reporting that Hernandez was barred from going to the team offices at Gillette Stadium. Boston media followed Hernandez’s SUV to the stadium, even though no coaches or other personnel were holding a meeting there.

Hernandez is also being sued by a former friend who claims that the player shot him in the face after an argument at a Miami club in February.
