Paula Deen – the dethroned queen of Southern-style cookin' – has issued a humble farewell to the Food Network which refused to renew her contract after she admitted to using the n-word in the past.
As we previously reported, Deen is being sued by a former employee for emotional abuse involving racial slurs.
A deposition was held last month during which Deen confessed that she had uttered the n-word, saying, “Yes, of course” when pressed for the truth by her attorney.
We then followed up on the story with the news that the Food Network will not renew Deen’s daytime cooking show Paula’s Home Cooking for another season due to the explosive scandal.
After her abrupt dismissal, Deen bid a sad farewell to the network that she starred on for over a decade, People reports.
In a statement, Deen said, “I have had the pleasure of being allowed into so many homes across the country and meeting people who have shared with me the most touching and personal stories.”
She continued, “This would not have been possible without the Food Network. Thank you again. Love and best dishes to all of y’all.”
People further reports that, although Deen is no longer with the Food Network, her younger son Jamie Deen’s show Home for Dinner will remain on the air.
Her older son Bobby Deen’s show Not My Mama’s Meals – which airs on the Cooking Channel – was also untouched by the deposition’s backlash.
