Life may truly imitate art for actress Portia de Rossi who’s been accused of undergoing plastic surgery after reprising her role as the vain, self-absorbed character Lindsay Fünke on Arrested Development.
The cult hit TV show was cancelled in 2006 after only three seasons, but was revived on Netflix last Sunday.
The new storyline – like the show itself – picks up seven years after the finale. After binging on the fifteen new episodes, loyal fans noticed some dramatic changes to the characters/actors, particularly on de Rossi’s face.
One person tweeted: “Lots of debate abt the new Arrested Development season, but 1thing is certain. Portia de Rossi looks like an alien now w/ the plastic surgery.”
Another tweeted: “Watching new Arrested Development… Portia de Rossi’s plastic surgery is distracting and disturbing.”
Hollywood Life decided to bring in board certified experts to weigh in on the issue.
Dr. Edward P. Miranda said, “It appears that Portia underwent nasal tip reconstruction. Her nose used to point downward, and you can clearly see it is now upturned. She also may have had blepharoplasty (eyelid surgery) to make her eyes appear wider. Lastly, she definitely appears to have Botox injections (judging by her perfectly smooth forehead) and filler injections to the border of her upper lip.”
In a recent interview with People, de Rossi insisted that she would never take such drastic steps to look younger.
“The trick for me turning 40 was to really evaluate what I wanna do with this next phase in my life. The one thing I don't wanna do is chase what I looked like at 20.”
She continued, “People do think I look younger than I am because I dress like a teenager.” De Rossi also credits her vegan diet for her youthful appearance.
There's no telling whether the beautiful blonde really did go under the knife or whether it was an illusion courtesy of special effects makeup to bring the vainglorious character to life.
