Kim Kardashian’s early delivery may have been the result of preeclampsia, a condition common with high blood pressure.

People magazine released its cover story detailing the Keeping up with the Kardashians stars “delivery drama.” Kardashian was admitted to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center after suffering from complications, the report states. Upon being admitted, she went into labor almost immediately.

USA Today reports that preeclampsia may have been the cause of the baby's early arrival

Although previous reports suggested that the reality star turned fashionista delivered her baby nearly five weeks early, sources close to the family tell People that upon being admitted to the hospital she was 37 weeks pregnant. Kardashian’s daughter with rapper boyfriend Kanye West was born Saturday.

A source gushes that the baby is “the prettiest, tiniest thing with a full head of straight, dark hair, a cute little nose and Kim's lips.” Despite her early arrival less than one week ago, a source notes that the baby is “already smiling.”

The couple have still not released the name of their firstborn child.
