Former republican presidential candidate and Pennsylvania senator Rick Santorum has been named the CEO of EchoLight Studios, a Christian movie company.
The Huffington Post reports that Santorum announced his new position on Mike Huckabee’s Fox News program, “The Huckabee Show,” saying he felt that the transition to the company had come at the “right time.”
EchoLight, which produces faith-based films, will release The Redemption of Henry Meyers this fall. The film is a Western that details a bank robber’s choice between revenge and Redemption.
“I’ve jumped in with both feet,” Santorum said, according to the The Washington Post . ““I often say that culture is upstream from politics, and I know entertainment also can be strength and light for people who want to be uplifted and reinforced in their values.”
Santorum commented on the morality of Hollywood, saying that complaints about content in movies can now be rectified with his presence at EchoLight.
"Many of you have heard me talk about that if we are going to make a positive impact on our country's cultural challenges, we have to do it by reaching the masses often through entertainment," Santorum said. "For too long, Hollywood has had a lock on influencing the youth of this country with a flawed message that goes against our values. Now, we can change that."
