Perhaps Kim Kardashian and Kanye West are not entirely responsible for the odd moniker given to their newborn baby girl, North West. While the new parents were hesitant that their child would be made fun of, Kim’s brother Rob Kardashian spoke out telling his big sister to ignore the nay-sayers and encouraged her to name the baby something meaningful to them.
According to E! News, Rob called into Ryan Seacrest’s live radio show where he explained his part in naming his new niece.
“I told Kim and Kanye this: I’m like, ‘Yo, people are always going to talk whether it’s good or bad,” he explained. “There’s always going to be the haters, but do what you guys feel.’ Like, you know everyone’s going to say, ‘Oh, you’re coming up with some weird celebrity, crazy name.’ You know how it is.”
So how does Rob feel about his niece’s directionally based name? “[But] North West, it sounds cool! [And] North is the highest point, so it has a lot of meaning to it.”
Rob isn’t the only one defending the name. As we previously reported, Kris Jenner, Kim and Rob’s mother, defended her granddaughter’s name during her visit to The View.
Rob admits that he plans on getting baby North a “giant stuffed animal” explaining, “The baby came a month early. It's so small. She needs a big stuffed animal."
