On July 30th, Robin Thicke’s new album Blurred Lines drops and if it’s anything like the title track single, Thicke will be very pleased with the results.
According to UPI, Thicke decided that he didn’t want to do this album on his own like his previous ones; he hired some of the greatest hit-makers to collaborate with to broaden his listeners away from just his small fan base. Apparently his theory worked since “Blurred Lines” has been topping the charts since its release despite critics calling it “rapey.”
According to The Daily Beast, Thicke’s new song has made some female listeners uncomfortable. The article claims that Thicke is buying into the ancient argument of “no really means yes.” The song is tip-toeing across a fine line, but maybe that’s the very line Thicke is singing about.
Nontheless, Thicke hasn’t let these critiques diminish his hope that this album will be great. According to Reality TV Magazine, Thicke is very excited about a particular track on the album titled “Give It 2 U.” He describes it as a hip-hop mix of Michael Jackson and Prince. He claims the album is more “feel good” than anything else he has released.
