Ryan Reynolds has officially dropped out of remake of the 1986 sci-fi film, Highlander.
According to The Wrap, Reynolds, who was first attached to the film in early 2012, left the project following alongside Juan Carlos Fresnadillo who left the project after creative differences surfaced.
Summit Entertainment hoped to quickly find a replacement director, but has yet to find his successor.
Sources explain that the Green Lantern actors departure may prove a positive one for the film as a new director is more likely to come aboard knowing that the decision of picking a leading man is in their own hands, rather than dealing with the decision of Fresnadillo.
It is unclear why Reynolds opted to depart from the film.
Currently the actor has a lot to look forward, his leading voice role in the Dreamworks animation Turbo hits theaters July 17, followed by roles in R.I.P.D., Queen of the Night, The Voices, Selfless and Deadpool.
