Sarah Jessica Parker has finally created her own shoe collection almost a decade after bidding farewell to her iconic role as the shoe-crazed fashionista, Carrie Bradshaw, on Sex and the City.

Parker acknowledged her fans’ surprise that she hadn’t done this sooner considering her huge success on the show, reports Vogue.

“In a silly way, I think it’s what people have expected of me most because of Carrie Bradshaw.”

Her new collection, called SJP, will have handbags and trench coats as well as shoes.

Parker explained, “It’s sort of soup to nuts. You put on a shoe and you put on a coat and you wear a bag and, on the outside, when you're walking down the street, they really can tell the same story about yourself.”

Parker teamed up with George Malkemus – CEO of the high-end shoe brand, Manolo Blahnik – but her line will not share the same lofty price tag.

Single-sole pumps and flats will go for $200-$300 while bags will cost no more than $700.

Parker says she learned a lot from her shoe-savvy Sex and the City character which she played from 1998 to 2004.

“Because I got to play that role, I wore a lot of shoes and by default I learned an enormous amount. It’s hard to walk away from that.”

This is not Parker’s first foray into the fashion industry, though she hasn’t had much luck with her other lines.

In 2007 she introduced her buyer-friendly clothing line, Bitten, where each piece was under $20 and the sizes ranged from XS-XXL, reported Yahoo!

However, retailer Steve & Barry went bankrupt in 2008 and Bitten was discontinued.

Then in 2010, Parker stepped into the role of chief creative officer at Halston Heritage, but she mysteriously parted ways after a year and a half.

Hopefully Parker will have greater success with Nordstrom, where her SJP collection will be available exclusively next year.
