Scott Speedman has been cast in Open, the latest project from Ryan Murphy. The pilot is being developed for HBO and will also star Wes Bentley.

Speedman, who just starred in ABC’s cancelled drama The Last Resort, joined the pilot on Thursday, The Wrap confirmed. He will join The Hunger Games’ Bentley, who will play the lead character - an arrogant blowhard who feels obligated to share his beliefs on sexuality whenever he gets a chance. Speedman’s character is an executive at a sports marketing company.

The news was first reported by Deadline.

According to Zap2It, Open is described by the network as an ensemble series that looks at the “complex, ever-evolving landscape of sexuality, monogamy and intimacy in relationships.” Murphy and Dexter’s Lauren Gussis wrote the pilot and executive produce. Ryan Murphy Television and Fox 21 are producing.

The Hollywood Reporter confirmed back in April that the project got a pilot order from HBO. Several networks were interested in Open, which will be Murphy’s first new project since NBC cancelled The New Normal. Murphy has had success with Fox’s Glee, FX’s American Horror Story and Nip/Tuck.

Speedman starred in Felictiy and two Underworld films.
