Patricia Krentcil, made (in)famous for encouraging her 5-year-old to start tanning, has entered rehab for alcohol abuse in Palm Beach, Florida, and Michael Lohan says he’s reached out to help her.

The outspoken father of troubled starlet Lindsay Lohan told E! News that he thought to contact Krentcil after she was sent to a detox facility following her arrest at Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport.

"Evidently she heard that I was trying to get Lindsay into Lukens because it's high end and individualized treatment,” Lohan said. “She reached out to me through friends. Ironically, she went to the same high school as me (Cold Spring Harbor, Long Island), but actually [was] in my younger brother's class."

Lohan was in the news last month, speaking openly to tabloids about daughter Lindsay’s latest stint at the Betty Ford Clinic, advocating that she transfer to Lukens Institute where she could receive more personalized treatment.

When Krentcil checked in to Lukens this week, Lohan was in tow carrying her bags for her. He spoke of their first meeting to the press, saying he was “surprised” at her demeanor.

"I must say that I was pleasantly surprised when I met her because she was nothing like people made her out to be,” Lohan said. “If she stays with 'the program' she will beat her addictions."

Recent reports indicate that the rehab-enthusiast has decided to take the matter of treating others into his own hands by opening up a facility. According to iVillage , Lohan was "inspired by his faith" to open "the nation's first faith based clinical treatment center."

What the 53-year-old did not check upon making his announcement is that there are many faith-based treatment facilities for those seeking rehab and other treatment. Dream big, Michael.
