Abercrombie and Fitch messed with the wrong fan base.
It's no secret that Taylor Swift has had a fair amount of famous boyfriends. Retailer Abercrombie and Fitch got in on the joke when the produced and sold a shirt which read, "#more boyfriends than t.s."
This did not sit well with the year old's hardcore fan base, referred to as Swifties. According to Today, one such devoted fan utilized Change.Org to to create a petition pushing for the shirt to be removed. It obtained a mere 95 signatures but was still solid enough to get noticed by the company.
Another angry fan took created a YouTube rant in which she let Abercrombie have it, saying “I think that this T-shirt was a huge waste of production. It is the most childish thing I have ever seen in my entire life.” The young girl ended with, “I cannot believe that you guys would go as low to do something like that.
ABC News notes that Abercrombie and Fitch did remove the shirt and tweaked their phone messaging system to address the calls from angry Switfies: "Thank you for calling Abercrombie & Fitch public relations. If you are calling regarding the Taylor Swift T-shirt, please note that this is no longer available.”
