The June 27, 2013 episode of the Daily Show focuses on the recent Supreme Court decisions, and Edward Snowden’s situation in Moscow.

The episode begins with Jon Stewart briefly visiting via skype or some similar application. He corrects John Oliver’s recent incorrect ideas on where Stewart has been. Oliver then tells him about all the exciting things they have been doing without him, and Stewart says he misses the show. Oliver quickly transitions from his visit with Stewart to a continued discussion of the Supreme Court’s decisions. This time he focuses on the reactions of the conservative side. He shows several clips of conservatives calling on the Bible, and other sources. Oliver points out the hypocrisy of these sources, since many men in the Bible have multiple wives, slaves, and other similar ideas. He then showed some clips of similar people talking about gay marriage being unnatural. Oliver points out that if they want to draw “natural” into it, they may want to think twice. He then showed a clip of a dog humping another dog’s face. He said that natural is not that pretty, and certainly does not fit with their conservative values.

The second segment focuses on Edward Snowden’s situation. Oliver shows a clip of someone asking President Barack Obama what he will do when Snowden flies out of the Moscow airport. Obama said he would not scramble jets to get him, and did not seem overly concerned with the issue. Oliver then explained where Snowden is currently located: an airport in Moscow, Russia. President Vladimir Putin says that he cannot extradite Snowden, since he is not technically in Russia. Snowden has yet to go through any processes to leave the airport.

The guest for this episode is Tom Goldstein from SCOTUSblog. They spent the interview discussing the Supreme Courts’ decisions and how far America has come in regards to gay rights. It was a very interesting discussion, and definitely worth watching.
