The Voice coach Blake Shelton came to the defense of eliminated contestant Holly Tucker following a mean spirited tweet from Houston Chronicle music critic Joey Guerra.

Following her elimination Guerra tweeted, “#TheVoice sends one singer back to Texas. Don't worry, it's not the one we care about.”

Shelton was quick to come to Tucker’s defense responding to the tweet, “Hey @joeyguerra.. I wonder if the state of Texas is proud of the kind of shit you write about a young Texan like @hollytmusic..? I doubt it.”

The Voice coach didn't stop there. He took to his own Twitter to unleash on Tucker writing, “How much do y'all wanna bet he'd NEVER criticize my team OR me like that face to face.... Chicken shit..” Shelton later apologized for his “rant” noting that he is simply “passionate about encouraging young people to follow their dreams.. We GOOD people don't need hate.”

Tucker has since responded to her former coach’s decision to defend her honor telling MTV News, "It means the world to see Blake was there to rush to my defense. You know, he's my coach. I'll always think of him that way. He's kind of like a father figure, in a way, just that he wants to protect us. He wants the best for us. He wants to see us succeed."

According to MTV, despite not winning it all on the hit NBC series, Tucker has been offered a record label in Nashville. Tucker admits that she is excited about her future and is hopeful to still get her music out to her fans.
