Kanye West’s new album Yeezus has finally arrived, and this time, he doesn’t even think of holding back. Spitting in modern America’s face, West speaks about new racism, sex, religion, celebrity life and love. But, of course, he all does it with his classic West wit, full of clever wording and unforeseen rhymes. He has conversations with Jesus, wakes up from comas, wears black leather jeans, crashes into Corollas (with his Benz, of course) and writes a little love song that is kind of sorta tender.
West can get pretty serious with his lyrics. Take “Jesus Walks” from his album, College Dropout, for example. He raps, “Yo, we at war / We at war with terrorism, racism, and most of all we at war with ourselves.” But he also likes to have fun, especially in “New Workout Plan,” where he says, “1 and 2 and 3 and 4 and get them sit ups right and tuck your tummy tight and do your crunches like this.”
Whether it’s deliberately serious or just messing around, West knows how to hook listeners with words. So, lift your hands up to Yeezus as we present the best lyrics from his riotous album...in graphic form.
