On this week’s episode of Twisted, we learned more about the past of Danny and Jo’s friendship, the community grieved Regina’s death and Danny kept looking guiltier and guiltier.

The episode began at Regina’s memorial where Lacey was speaking about how great her friend was. The words were sweet, however, the camera kept flashing to the betrayed Jo. In true high school angst, Lacey was talking about how great her new friend, Regina, was and forgetting that she used to be BFFs with Jo and that made Jo sad.

Jo’s lame sadness did lead to a good flashback. Turns out Jo, Lacey and Danny all shared a fort and Danny liked to start their campfires. It leads to an insight to Danny’s character. Danny liked to light things on fire which- for an eleven year old- is pretty violent. Lighting things on fire seems like something a future murderer would do (not that I’m judging this fictional character).

After the memorial, there is a scene of Danny and his mother at breakfast. She is trying to comfort him and he is pushing her away emotionally. Danny’s character is odd. He is so charismatic that he can keep people from knowing his secrets. Like murdering his classmate (still not judging). He also hints at drama between his mother and Jo’s mother.

Flash-forward to lunch where Jo, Danny and Rico (Ashton Moio, who is so ironically funny that I could watch an entire show about him) are sitting at the diner- the group are discussing a way to keep Danny from being blamed for a death that he didn’t do. Jo and Rico are really taking a big jump here. All signs point to Danny and they just believe him because he said so? I’m not sure if they are being nice or just being naïve.

Then Jo’s lame cop dad Kyle says that- not surprisingly- he doesn’t want Jo to hang out with Danny. I don’t blame him. I don’t have kids but if someone had already killed their aunt, I wouldn’t want my sixteen-year-old around him (still not judging!).

At school, drama was on full alert. Phoebe, Regina’s ex-friend and enemy, is using Regina’s death for attention. She is pretending that they were BFFs and even set up a grief counseling session. Also, Lacey’s boyfriend, Archie, blames Danny for Regina’s death.

The guys get into a fight. Even though Archie is smaller, Danny still wins the fight. Archie’s punishment is being forced to go to a grief session. Because Danny’s mother has a creepy relationship with Principal Tang, Danny gets no punishment. He does get a lecture from Jo.

Even though Jo is getting seriously annoying with her all-knowing attitude, she finally hit the nail on the head. Danny is making himself seem guilty. He isn’t using Lacey as an alibi. He won’t tell anyone why he killed his aunt. He is fighting with emotionally weak dudes. All of these things seem like things that a murderer would do (stating the facts; not judging).

After that, Danny and Jo plan for their mothers, them and Rico to have a dinner together to get Jo’s father to come around to see that Danny isn’t (is) guilty. Then Jo’s cop dad calls in Danny’s mom and asks her to look at Regina’s necklace. Danny’s mother says she doesn’t recognize the necklace but her face has an ‘oh-no’ look.

Because of the ‘oh-no’ look, Jo’s dad decides to attend the mothers’ dinner. He even brought wine! While Danny is setting the table, he sees a picture of his aunt with the necklace on. He grabs the picture and hides it after Jo’s dad goes to the bathroom.

J o’s dad, the cop, acts dumbly and sneaks into Danny’s room. Now, I’m not a detective or lawyer but I am almost 100% sure that going through someone’s room without their permission, a warrant or in the dark is a way to get evidence thrown out. What was he thinking when he decided to investigate at a family dinner. Rude.
Danny catches him right before Jo’s dad spots Regina’s/his aunt’s, necklace, which is hidden, under his bed. You know who hides evidence? Murderers. (Still not judging!)

While the whole family is at dinner and awesome Rico is discussing The Avengers, the adults get into a fight. It is revealed that Jo and Danny’s mothers used to be BFFs until they had a falling out. Their falling out was due to the fact that they wanted eleven-year-old Jo to testify at Danny’s murder case and they said no.

Jo’s father even yelled that he thought that Danny didn’t serve enough time and that he didn’t trust Danny enough for Jo to be around him. Ouch.

Meanwhile, in the less dramatic grief session, students are sitting in a circle discussing how much they loved Regina. Queen Bee and seriously annoying Lacey decided to mock everyone in the grief circle.

She basically said that none of them knew or liked Regina. Even though she was right, it was not the right time. She didn’t come off as a good friend to Regina; she came off as a brat who couldn’t handle sharing grief with anyone else.

She apologized to Phoebe and they discussed Regina in a real, honest way. That was the first moment that Regina’s death was actually talked about in a real way. Instead of the melodrama and insults about Regina- two characters talked it out and that was a beautiful thing.

Back at Danny’s, Danny and his mother were sitting at the table. Danny’s mother tried to help and comfort him. Danny pushed her away and told her that it was his fault that everything had started.

Jo talked with her dad too. She said that she understands that her father is sure that Danny is guilty but she believes Danny. They both fight for what they believe. Then Jo’s mother tells her husband about the missing picture of the aunt. And Jo’s father believes that Danny is guilty again.

Then the real drama hits. The episode ends with Danny sitting by a fire setting pictures of his dead aunt on fire. Yes, he was burning pictures. Evidence was being burnt.

He goes to destroy the necklace but stares at it like a creep and doesn’t destroy it. You know who keeps souvenirs? Murderers. Ok, I think Danny is guilty. I think Danny killed his aunt and Regina. I am judging every action Danny makes because, in my mind, he is a sociopathic murderer

So, do you think Danny is guilty or do you think it is all a trick that the writers are pulling to confuse the viewers. Comment below!
