On this week’s episode of Twisted, Danny had an emotional breakthrough with his mother, Jo went through changes and Lacey continued be angry with Danny.
The episode began with Lacey, Archie and Sarita (Jamila Velasquez) practicing for the teen sobriety week play. It was about peer pressure, drinking and driving and parties. The three weren’t interested in the play because they were being divas and were too good for the script or something. I’m not really sure what was going on there. They all signed up to do a play but then were being difficult. They said it was either do the play or write a paper about teen sobriety. Honestly, aren’t papers easier than learning a script and doing a play?
At the diner, Rico, Jo and Danny were hanging out talking about their case. Jo and Rico said that they didn’t hang out with enough people to understand what happened at Regina’s party. They were more worried about their grades than their social lives. Danny lightly mocked them, saying that they needed to do more. He said that they should reach out. Jo said that Lacey didn’t want to be their friend anymore. Danny disagreed. He said that he would use his charm to get her back.
Even though I still think Danny is a murderer, I do have to admit that he is pretty charming. I can’t help but smile with every joke or snide comment that he makes. He can pull off any line and it also helps that he’s pretty good looking.
After hearing Danny talk about how her life was plain, Jo decided not to ride with her father to school. She wanted to mix things up and the first step was not riding with her father to school. So, she walked and was late for class, shocking Rico. On top of mixing up her transportation, Jo also joined a different group in studying.
An outburst from another student caused a need for regrouping. Upon discovering, it turns out that a girl was stood up by one of Lacey’s guy friends. And, as the guy said, it wouldn’t have happened if Archie didn’t need to borrow the car for the night of Regina’s party.
Meanwhile, the worst cop ever, Jo’s dad decided to stop by Danny’s house and try to get the picture of Tara, Danny’s dead aunt, and the red necklace. Last episode he searched through Danny’s room without a warrant. This episode he showed up to Danny’s house to talk to his mother without a warrant. I mean, come on, I understand that he is passionate about the case but what he is doing is just plain stupid.
Back at school, Danny tries to become BFFs with Lacey again. But, he is interrupted by Archie, Lacey’s boyfriend. Archie assumes that Danny is interested in dating Lacey. He says no and Archie says something like a jerk. It is hard to say anything negative to Danny without seeming like a total jerk because Danny is so charming.
Then, to get closer to Lacey, Jo and Danny join the play to prevent teen sobriety. Obviously, they weren’t welcomed with open arms and were stuck helping with the video. Since all the other kids were complaining about the play, Danny decided to rewrite the script.
Danny and Jo’s late night of script writing ran into Jo and Rico’s diner study time. And, when Jo arrived late for study time, Rico got angry and left. Rico seemed offended that Jo didn’t like just having school.
Next day, as the play started, Archie was angry that Danny wrote the play and quit. Sarita was angry that her part was cut and she had to deal with working on the video. So, Jo, Lacey and Danny were the stars. The play was about forgiveness and not forgetting the past. It had deep dialogue and was way better than a skit about peer pressure. As the play ended, the whole school didn’t seem to hate Danny as much.
However, there wasn’t a happy ending. As the video played, it turns out that Sarita (who is awful) changed it at the last minute and instead of playing a video about binge drinking, simply showed a cell phone recording of Jo drinking at Regina’s party. Classy.
As Jo was running away, Rico chased her and Danny stood by. Lacey apologized to Danny and told him to tell Jo. Danny asked why she didn’t tell her herself. Lacey said that they could never be friends again.
Danny, finally understanding that Lacey didn’t want to be his friend, went to Archie to make amends. Danny told Archie that he was right and that his friendship with Lacey was over. Danny did ask that Archie lay off. He said that he was just trying to fit in. Archie, who was correct but harsh, said that Danny would never fit in.
Danny then went home to talk to his mom. His mother confronts him about the missing picture of his aunt from the mantle and from all of the picture books. (The same pictures he was creepily burning at the end of last episode) Danny said that he took them because it was morbid to keep them around the house. He said that he was just trying to fit in and he would love if his mother believed that he wasn’t a murderer. She said she did and they hugged it out.
Rico and Jo were back at the diner. He was making fun of his new lab partner and how, even though he wasn’t at the party, Rico knew every detail about Regina’s party. Jo had an ah-ha moment and they discussed it and found an inconsistency.
Archie said that he went to bed the night of Regina’s party and didn’t go out at all. Yet, the reason that the lab partner was crying was because Tyler didn’t call her. Tyler said he only hung out with her because he didn’t have a car. Archie had his car. So, Archie wasn’t at home the night of the party. He had Tyler’s car all night. But, if he was home… why did he need a car? Did you catch all of that?
Rico and Jo were rambling out clues and answers so quickly you’d think they were one of the Pretty Little Liars.. They uncovered a little mystery and a new suspect in Regina’s murder.
The episode ended with the worst cop ever, Jo’s dad, finding a picture of Tara in his garage. Tara, Danny’s murdered aunt, in a picture with the red necklace. Busted.
So, is Danny guilty? Is Jo’s dad the worst cop ever? Comment below.
