Vampire Diaries star Shannon Rogers Guess-Richardson has been charged with attempted poisoning of President Obama, Mayor Bloomberg, and Mark Glaze. Richardson told the FBI that her husband had mailed ricin-laced letters addressed to New York City Mayor and President Obama. However, she was busted yesterday by federal agents, and admitted that she, in fact, had poisoned the mail.
According toNBC, Richardson was arrested in Arkansas on Friday. Her husband, Nathaniel Richardson, is an Army Veteran. The letters sent to Obama and Bloomberg were postmarked on May 20th and discovered in a routine mail- screening process. It was addressed to Mark Glaze who is the director of Mayors Against Illegal Guns—an organization started by Mayor Bloomberg and other people advocating for stronger laws on gun control.
The letter read: “You will have to kill me and my family before you get my guns, anyone who wants to come to my house will get shot in the face. The right to bear arms is my constitutional God given right and I will exercise that right till the day I die.”
Mayor Bloomberg told the authorities, “I feel perfectly safe. I’ve got more danger from lightening than from anything else and I’ll go about my business.” He feels confident that workers will continue to track down harmful mail and keep him away from danger.
The New York Post stated that Richardson underwent a series of polygraph tests, which she failed, according to court documents. She gave a bizarre excuse for her lies, saying she had planted evidence to bolster the case against her husband because she was convinced he mailed the letters. She planted castor beans near a golf cart, which her husband was working on and sprinkled Ricin around his tools. Feds found no evidence to back up her claims.
The three NYPD cops who came in contact with the Bloomberg letter suffered symptoms of Ricin exposure such as diarrhea and strong “smell to their urine.”
The ricin-laced letter to Obama read: “I served in the united states army and because your muslim ass will probably never be able to retire. I will have to work until I take my last breathe. I deserve better and so do my wife and kiddos. I will take care of this myself and make sure you wont be runnin this country in the ground any furthur.”
The day the letters were mailed, Richardson was working a 10-hour shift so he could not have left to mail the letters, unnoticed.
Shannon Rogers Guess – Richardson, 35, has evidently had some hatred towards the president and Mayor Bloomberg, as she committed the crime knowing the harmful effects of ricin. As you can tell, her hatred stems from the laws on gun control, and she wants these laws to be minimized. She doesn’t agree with Obama’s policies and believes that ever since he gained presidency, our nation has gone downhill. These threats should not go unpunished. Clearly, her husband, Nathaniel, has married a disturbed woman whose confession to the crime is enough to indict her.
