A bombshell story surfaced this week regarding Food Network star Paula Deen and her alleged use of racial slurs. The celebrity chef reportedly admitted to using the ‘n-word’ in a deposition for a lawsuit her former employee launched against her.
A National Enquirer report surfaced, which claims Deen said in her deposition when asked if she uses the word, “Of course.”
She also said about claims that she wanted black men to act as slaves at an event she was planning, “The whole entire waiter staff was middle-aged black men, and they had on beautiful white jackets with a black bow tie,” she said of another event she saw. “I mean, it was really impressive. That restaurant represented a certain era in America…after the Civil War, during the Civil War, before the Civil War…It was not only black men, it was black women…I would say they were slaves.”
There have been reactions on Twitter, and now television personality Wendy Williams is commenting.
She told ETOnline, "This is something that has been swirling around about Paula Deen for longer than this story. It's just a shame to hear that she has admitted in her deposition that she uses the word. She seems to think that it's okay. It's not okay. It just goes to show you money doesn't buy you class, it only exposes who you really are. Stupid is as stupid does."
Williams added, "She said a lot of ignorant things and a lot of very revealing things about who she is when she's out of the kitchen."
